The pup and I sometimes explore other neighborhoods. This was on the edge of a nearby park. What do you think is going on here? This Underwood typewriter was in lovely condition. And just perched there, on the curb, between parking lot and playground.

a new writer friend, but where did they go?
I felt like I had stepped into a fantasy novel. Not a pad, not a mobile device. But an actual vintage typewriter. It was so beautiful. And I can imagine that the ideas written here would be different than those on other media.
maybe you should go back and put a piece of paper in that typewriter…..see if anyone has anything to say!
What a fabulous idea! I wish I had been prepared for that. We walked for about an hour, and when we came back to the parking lot, the typewriter was gone. A planned drop, or a lucky scavenger? If it weren’t for the photo, I’d have assumed I imagined it all.
I haven’t seen one of those in years, I hope if someone picked it up they will use it and not just leave it sitting to collect dust.
I don’t know, Lois. I wouldn’t blame anyone for putting it on a pedestal with a halogen spot and calling it Art. It was so gorgeous. Of course, I like my pretty things to earn their keep, so I wasn’t even tempted to take it along with us. Glad I got the photo, though.
So totally cool. I just used my vintage type writer to type out all my good mail letters to my pen pals. OMG I’ve no idea how the secretaries ever did that for a living! But you know what? I loved, LOVED the commitment to each key stroke. I mean, no backspace that erases button, no auto-align, no auto-spell…brilliant. I’m so going to type more stuff out.
way back when, I was actually trained (and skilled) at taking dictation, stenography, and typing. Can you imagine? I, too, really liked the physical connection.
